K-16 Science and Mathematics Outreach Directory (bluebook) is a resource
for science, mathematics and engineering education programs, workshops, conferences
and summer camps at the University of Arizona.
- SAMEC consults with individuals and districts in educational
Reform Efforts
- E-news disseminates information about local, state and national events, workshops, conferences
and job postings. This information is disseminated to K-16 state-wide science and
mathematics educators. E-news is disseminated bi-monthly (every other Friday). Anyone
interested in submitting information relevant to the educational community should
send it to mangin@email.arizona.edu
- SAMEC facilitates and coordinates Special Projects to assist with K-12 teacher professional development and alignment to Arizona standards.
- SANITY (Science and Nature in Tandem for Youth)
- GEMS Education Center
(Great Explorations in Math and Science)
is a nationally recognized resource for providing support for teachers presenting
GEMS units and implementing activity-based, inquiry-driven science and mathematics
education.
- K-12 Teacher
Workshops provides professional development in science to meet
the needs of the current systemic reform initiative.

Master Calendar of Programs and Events provides monthly information about professional development opportunities and program events
for educators across the state of Arizona. Outreach providers
can enter calendar events online using a password. For a password, please contact

- SAMEC Website provides information
that targets K-16 educators, UA faculty, and the Tucson community, about ongoing
events, programs and workshops.
- Science Teacher's
Colloquium Series facilitates communication
between scientists and the professional development needs of K-12 educators. This program is co-hosted with The Lunar and Planetary Laboratory
and The Space Imagery Center.
- SAMEC offers Professional Development Certificates that are aligned with district and state requirements to any K-12 teacher
who attends a UA seminar or lecture.
